FIrst Day of Kindergarten!!!!!

Shelby was so excited to start Kindergarten today!  We had a family breakfast date before taking him to school.
His backpack was loaded with all his school supplies, including kleenex boxes and the optional donations to the class, like playdough.  No worries, we won't give him back troubles on a daily basis.  He was determined to carry it himself!  When given the option of what backpack he wanted, he let Tehya know he'd like the backpack that the soldiers in the airport wear.  He just idolized American Soldiers.  He's my own little hero.

Wow, I didn't even mean to coordinate.  Mommy in white, Daddy in black, Shelby the perfect mixture of the two.  How symbolic.  HAHAHA
This shot was an accident, but turned out pretty cute.
Daddy's little man.
 My baby!!!!!  Really?  Kindergarten?!?!?!?!
Shelby and his teacher, Ms Byrnes or "Ms B"

Shelby's buddy from Extended School Services (ESS) for afterschool care, Justin.  They have different teachers, but see each other at play time.
Ms Judy.  She's the director of the ESS program.  She and her staff will walk the kids over to school in the morning (since they're open earlier than school) and then pick them up when classes are over to go back to ESS for the rest of the day.
Shelby's buddy, Qasi (sounds like Ka-sigh) is in his class with Ms B.  Shelby's excited to know someone.
Ms B lined them all up and told them to wave goodbye to mom and dad and tell us all to have a good day, then marched them in the class and that was it.  So, all the parents quickly rushed to the window and plastered our faces to watch the kids get settled in.
The school put on a breakfast for the parents to all meet each other.  It was cute.
According to Shelby, the first day was really good.  But he's asking to join the cafeteria lunch program and eat whatever they're eating.  I was reading about the nutrition standards they have to meet now, so we're considering it.

In the meantime, I can't wait to hear about his daily adventures and watch him learn and grow throughout the school year.  I love my little kindergartener!!!!
