Pumpkin Patch 2009!

I got to chaperone Shelby's trip to the Pumpkin Patch! It was a blast. Hot...but a ton of fun!

You all remember his future wife, Alex? (from Pebbles & Bam Bam debut Halloween 2008) They're still going strong, along with his BFF, Silas.Snack time with Kyle.

Maze!
Shelby encouraging Kyle and Alex to make a lot of noise.

If I shrug my shoulders, does it make me look taller?
Oink!
Look at all those pumpkins!

Fake-ittude

Shelby has been trying so hard to have this little attitude, but can't hold the pose for long before he busts out laughing. It's cracking me up.
Hold it....
Nice try, Buddy. (Sorry they're blury, but you get the point.)

Standing Up!

Shelby came home yesterday and has decided he prefers to pee standing up. We had asked before if he should be doing this, but were told that until he could get down the different sensations between pee and poo, he should just sit. Not sure what he told Ms. Teren, but whatever happened, she let him pee standing up and now that's all he does. He's also gone poo the past two evenings in a row and no accidents at all on Sunday and all day yesterday. Looks like we're all green lights, so I promise to end the updates soon, just currently amazed by this whole process. I'm still too weary to do underwear at night while sleeping. Shelby gets mad each night and tells me "I don't want diaper!" And each morning he's dry. I just keep thinking it can't be that easy, and I shouldn't push my luck. Thoughts, anyone?
THANK YOU to all my mommy friends for the words of advice and encouragement! Mission accomplished.

Shelby/Mommy Day presents....

A puppet show!

Shelby awoke at 6am this morning. Gee, go figure when we've been waking him up close to 7am telling him it's time to get ready for school and him fighting to sleep longer.
I brought him back in bed with me, hoping he'd fall back asleep. Stacy is away hunting again this weekend, and I had told Shelby last night when I tucked him in that today was going to be "Shelby/Mommy day!" I had just about dozed back off when Shelby whispered, "Mommy." "Yes, Shelby" (insert exhausted, annoyed, please let me sleep for the love of Pete voice). "Mommy...it's Shelby/Mommy day." (insert excited, happy voice) MELT..... Okay, I'm up.

In addition to the scrapbooking adventure, we made paper bag puppets. This was a real treat, as Shelby got to use his child-safety scissors to make the hair and get messy with glue. I told him when Daddy got home, we'd put on a puppet show. He wanted to practice a few times and kept reminding me that when daddy got home "we gonna do puppet show, Mommy!"

Poor thing! Bed time...and no sign of daddy. So, I made a big deal about getting the camera and showing all of you his big production. Hope you enjoyed the Puppet Show compliments of Shelby/Mommy day production company.

Cheesy School Photo '09

Okay, don't yell at me, until the picture came back, I didn't realize just how badly he needed a haircut. Wow. So though it pained me greatly, I forked over a crazy amount of dinero to ensure that grandparents, great grandparents, aunts & uncles had photos. Sorry to everyone that didn't make the cut, but here ya go. The sneak peak. At the end of the day, I figure it's only once/yr.Those red boots are for you, Tehya! :->I bet the photographer thought, who's the poser? Little does he know....

Dinosaurs!

Shelby's class (Frog room) has this precious little curriculum. Each month has a color and a shape, then each week focuses on various topics of learning. This month's color is orange/naranja. The shape is circle. Each time we get homework assignments. We had to find all kinds of little orange stuff around the house that can be pasted up on a collage.

So what in the world does that have to do with dinosaurs? NOTHING. However, in going through my scrapbooking kit looking for all that's orange: paper, stickers, etc Shelby came across my ignored scrapbook fun. He found the dinosaur set and was dying to put it together. Okay! He picked spots for the paper, put on his dinosaur shirt from Tehya
and grabbed his bucket o dinos. We were on our way outside for a photoshoot.

Grrr.....
Thanks for my shirt, Tehya! And, the scrapbook page is done (minus journaling)
Scrapbooking today made me miss you more than ever, Camille!!!!

Potty is my friend!

Just an update: all is well in underwear land. Shelby has been doing great. He goes #1 and #2 successfully in the potty! A moment to be disgusting: this kid makes monster poops now! We're talking major adult-sized business. I'm amazed. Now that he has to go on the potty, he seems to go every other day. I was concerned, but when he goes....whoa.

It was last Tuesday night at 8pm that he finally went in the potty since that first time. We'd been promising a present for poo all week long. So, at 8pm we were on our way to the Rite Aid down the street hoping they had the pink doggy he'd constantly reminded us the poo would win him. He announced to EVERYONE in the parking lot and in the store that he'd gone poop in the potty! LOL!!!! Ah, the proud moments in parenthood. No pink doggy. Momentary disappointment...then, the tea party set!!! Pink dog...tea party set.....no worries people (nor should you worry no matter what) however, keep in mind, Daddy runs the kitchen, so anything kitchen is manly around here.

Fairyland with Nonna

When Nonna was here we spent last Saturday at Oakland's Fairyland. We'd been once before with Saige & Daxton when Darryl and Sharla and the kids came. It was a whole different world with a toddler! He was so excited to do everything!

We rode the train.
And the carousel!
Lots of pics in the slideshow above.
After the morning was over and we got in the car at almost 2pm, Shelby was out before we'd even left the parking lot. Scheer exhaustion!

Potty Training Accomplishments!

I'm sooo proud of Shelby. He's had potty training down all week! (Well, the pee-pee part) We've still got poo-poo to get down, but oh well. I'm just thrilled at how, by Tuesday he was going in the potty! Less than a week to train! And I mean ALWAYS when it comes to #1. We're talking dry diaper at night! I've been worried, so I put a diaper on him at night, even though he HATES putting on diapers or pull ups and begs for underwear. However, he's sure proved my concerns to be unnecessary. He did wake me up at 3:58am one morning asking to go potty, went back to bed easily and then awoke at 7am asking to go again. WAY TO GO, SHELBSTER! It's funny how children will rise to your expectations of them. I began to think I'd had unrealistic expectations and that I needed to let up, but bam! The Superpower of Shelby!

Nonna's Visit

Shelby and I had a great time with Nonna! Stacy went on his hunting trip to Wyoming with Mason. Details and photo of kill to come.

Meanwhile, Nonna came to help out while Daddy was gone. Shelby was in heaven! More pics of our time to come. However, I wanted to showcase the 2009 Halloween costume: ELVIS! He put on a performance for her and has really nailed down the accent in "Uh...huh..."
THANKS, NONNA!
Notice the Blue Suede Shoes!!! Tehya sent the finishing touch to the outfit. THANKS, TEHYA!2008 Halloween: Bam-Bam Halloween 2007: Hershey's KissWho knows what we'll think up for 2010!!!
