Oakland A's!

Last Saturday, 8/22 we took Shelby to the Oakland A's game! He had a blast. A little restless in the stands, but overall did well.
My boss' youngest son, Derek is such a cutie, I wanted to eat him up!
Shelby was being a toot and not posing for a pic with Derek.
Notice the jackets? It got COLD at night! Again, gotta love California!
After the game was over and we were headed to the car, this young boy (about 13yrs old) thought Shelby was cute kicking around a can and asked if he'd like a ball. He explained that it wasn't a foul ball, but indeed one of the balls the players tossed into the stands after the game! It's a Rawlings Official Major League Baseball!!! I was so impressed with the young man's sacrifice for a cute little guy that I wished I had his mother's number to call and tell her what a selfless young man she raised! Shelby acted as if he understood what a cherished treasure this is. He often asks for his "new ball" or "Oakland ball" so he can play catch. The pic below is funny. After spending a few minutes try to get him to hold the ball in the air, and him just sort of swaping out hands, we went with what we got.
Take me out to the Ball Game! Take me out to the crowd! Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks...(for like $30)...I don't care if I ever come back...

Just Playing Around

Okay, don't laugh at me, but I was playing around today with effects.

Good-Bye Butterflies!

In case you can't read it, the kids are (L to R) Silas, Nicholas, Spencer, Kyle, Shelby & Alex. The quote: While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about. -Angela Schwindt. I plan to have them printed for my fellow Butterfly parents and the teachers.

Shelby's last day as a Butterfly was Wednesday! He'll be a Frog starting on Monday. It's so bittersweet. I can't believe these babies are growing up! However, I'm pumped for potty training class. Whew Hew!

I loved how free spirited the kids were dancing around the room. Shelby made the request for music, of course, and Ms. Stacy quickly made it happen. Watch little Alex be the girl by dancing and watching herself in the mirror. Hilarious!

It's so much fun to watch Shelby ADORE his friends. I was so worried about being the only parent to miss this activity, as I sometimes am, so my boss supported me arranging some things and leaving early to be there. YEAH! Although I was surprised by how many parents couldn't make this round, I had a much needed moment to put things back into perspective! It totally set me up to handle the very next day when I left my driveway at 4am to return at 9pm. So glad I took this time with the Butterflies!
The pic above cracks me up. I think Nicholas and Alex thought hiding behind Shelby will prevent them from his Mommy's camera. Silas was all about the stage cheesing with his guitar!Nicholas, above, is our class greeter. He's just the friendliest little guy always waving hello and good-bye. His mom, Nicole, is in the background. She gets just as choked up about them all growing up as I do!Alex and Shelby...still a hot item!
I ALWAYS love Kyle's beautiful dark locks. He got a haircut at one point, and though it looked great, I was so sad! Shelby references Kyle by first and last name. But instead of coming out right, it sounds like "Kyle Shocka"
I loved this one of the whole class above. In efforts to get them all to pose, it was the more casual interaction that I thought was the most telling! Everyone loves Ms. Stacy (left) and Ms. Kim (right). I'm so grateful for such excellent, loving teachers!

Lazy Friday Evening

Friday evening, we enjoyed some time lounging in the front yard. Shelby had a blast playing Superman!
After he decided it was Mommy's turn, he was quite unimpressed and quickly moved back to Daddy's turn! Sorry, kid, I'm just the hired photographer. (Speaking of, please excuse. These are taken with the convenient little Fuji)

Our Little Fish

Shelby and Jett began swim lessons this summer. Stacy & Mike take them on Wednesdays and Janine and I make it whenever we can to cheer them on. I got to go this past Wednesday and take pics. After a while, Shelby was crying for me, after being spooked by one of his "dunkings" and the teacher instructed me by spelling it out, "Maybe you should go H-I-D-E" Yes ma'am! Here's what I got before I was put in time out. (Note: Mike was sick, so Jett wasn't in attendance)This pic is kind of scary, as you can see his eyes staring up at Daddy.Janine and I agreed the guys are better suited for the role of dunking the children under water. I hate watching that, better yet seeing those eyes look up at me!I love this part. They "kick, kick, kick" around. Shelby gets so excited. And last night in the bathtub, he instructed his Little Einsteins water doll (Leo) to "kick, kick, kick" and "blow bubbles, Leo" as he submerged him under water. Cute! This comes with some cute song, "The kids in the pool go in...and out...in...and out..."Last shot before I was sent to my corner. LOL!
We've been discussing gymnastics as the fall activity. And next spring he can start soccer lessons without a parent accompanying him on the field. Stay tuned!

Chip of the old "Block"

So, Tesa has shared with me that when Stacy was little he had a horrible temper. He once got so mad that his blocks weren't configuring exactly how he wanted into the structure he envisioned, that he kicked them all down.
Well.......I got home at 10:15pm from work tonight and a smile was waiting (so desperately needed). Here's Shelby's report from school today.
A few things to take note of:
- My kid poops a lot!
- He got all worked up b/c someone else had mac-n-cheese, which he could eat 7 days a week, but we don't let him. Yes, he eats all that cheese and still produces the bullet above.
- To quote, "He did get upset about the configuration of some building blocks and every teacher tried to help him, but he was not happy no matter what." And other note, "He was a little sensitive from his earlier upset with the blocks."

B-O-O-T-S Boots!

Shelby loves to sing this song: B-O-O-T-S, Boots!
On our trip to Texas last month, Tehya got Shelby a pair of Fancy new cowboy boots and a straw cowboy hat to match daddy's. The boots are still too big, but Shelby loves to show them off. We got him a new shirt for the outfit. Thanks, Tehya!

Mommy's handsome little guy.My little California Tree-Hugger! LOL!
with a Texas Wrangler butt
In motion. Sorry for the blur.
Poor little guy, his legs aren't long enough to pull off the jeans, even bunched up at the bottom. A fashionable little roll will do.
Since when does Stetson make baby cologne ads?

Bath Time

Shelby doesn't give us too much fuss when it comes to bath time. He usually makes the best of it. With the onset of swimming lessons (yes, I will try to make it to a class with my camera before it's over) he likes to lay/lie/like I ever paid attention on his back and sing as the water is going down.

Dutton Clan in Utah

We had a fabulous time with the Dutton family in Salt Lake City, UT this past weekend. It was Mason's 30th birthday and we finally got to meet Baby Kampton! He's a doll! 6 months old already and they're just hanging in there hoping for a non-waking night.
Laura will be going back to work part time in a few weeks and is getting excited.
Shelby loved Major and Kaylee, but definitely preferenced little Kaylee dog.
Uncle Mason teaching Shelby how to "fight like a man"
Shelby was the cutest with Kampton. Here, he told me he wanted to hold Kampton and then said, "Mommy, I'm a big brother!" (Brother came out like "brudder") LOL! You wish, Little Man.
Laura and I took the kids to the Aquarium on Sat while the guys did their thing. Who'd have thought I'd have to be a mere few feet from a boa and a python in this place! We sat through a program and out come these guys! For those who know me well, you know my reaction: Sweat...Heartattack....Tears.....
I had to keep it together not to scare Shelby or the other kids. FREAK OUT!
The wall paintings were beautiful!
Hey, what are you looking at?

Precious little Kampton!Friday night we put the kids to bed and paid a sitter to be there, the four adults headed to a ski resort where we rode the chair lift to the very top and back, while checking out the full moon. We were freezing...correction, Laura and I were freezing....but we had a great time!
Gorgeous sunset from their balcony prior to leaving.
Shelbster needs to take rock climbing class. He'd have gone all the way to the top, if I'd had let him! Here he's screaming, "Big rock!"
Thanks for a great time, guys! Can't wait till you come here next year. I know you enjoyed San Fran, but now Kampton can too!
